Firefighter Injured During Hudson Valley House Fire

A firefighter received burns and suffered from smoke inhalation while battling an area house fire.

The fire took place in Rockland County around 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1, at 460 Storms Road in Valley Cottage.

According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police Department, said responding officers observed a heavy smoke condition coming from the basement and confirmed with the homeowner that the house was unoccupied. 

Multiple fire companies responded to the scene to assist the Valley Cottage Fire Department in extinguishing the fire, Peters said.

As members of the Valley Cottage Fire Department were working to extinguish this blaze, one firefighter was injured. 

Ryan Ebner, age 24, suffered burns and smoke inhalation requiring him to be transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau responded to the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
